Inside Richard Branson’s Private Necker Island

As some of you may already know, I recently took my much-anticipated trip to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island!
This is my second Necker Island visit and I still remember how beside myself with excitement I was the first time around. For that first trip, I spent my time just soaking it all in and exploring the island (plus filming a room tour video for you guys).
This time, I want to do something a little different: I’m bringing you with me for an entire day on Necker Island so you can see what life in this beautiful paradise is REALLY like. ✨
By the way, in case we haven’t met before, I’m Paige.
I’m here on Necker Island as a member of The Collective - an impact mastermind led by the fabulous Natalie MacNeal. Natalie is an official partner of Richard Branson's Virgin Unite.
So what does a typical day on Necker Island look like?
My morning started off with heading down to the tennis courts to join Richard and some other members of The Collective for a friendly game of tennis.
Next, it was time for breakfast with an ocean view…
The terrace where we ate breakfast is actually one of my favorite parts of Richard’s whole set up because it has ONE special feature that I feel just really speaks to his personality.
Sitting in the middle of the upper terrace, with a panoramic view of the entire island, is Richard’s hot tub.
Apparently once, when a hurricane was coming towards Necker, Richard watched it approaching from the hot tub until the last possible minute when someone came and told him he had to come inside. 😂
After breakfast, we had a cacao ceremony- this was definitely a first for me!
After the ceremony, we made a quick stop in the island shop - I’d found some cute items there during my last visit, so I was excited to see what they had.
This time, I left with a book. It caught my eye because it was the only book in the entire shop that was not written by Richard himself:
The gist of it is that one’s ability to partner (aka forge connections) is far more important than technical skills when the goal is long-term, deep business relationships.
Jean is the founding CEO of Richard's charity Virgin Unite.
I was curious because I remember the last time I visited Necker, Richard casually mentioned during a golf cart ride that sometimes you can make promotions that might seem crazy in the moment but end up working out surprisingly well.
He gave the example that he promoted one of his admin assistants to run his charity, and said that she did an exceptional job.
So I’m wondering if Jean is that person…
after lunch, there was a panel discussion with Richard himself….
Then we headed out on a boat to try yet another first for me: EFoiling.
It’s basically a little surfboard that hovers over the water.
It was challenging to say the least but I did manage to get it foiling on a couple of occasions (for like 10 seconds😅).
It was really fun and definitely a little challenging.
Room Tour Time:
This visit, I shared a room with two other fabulous collective members Catherine and Jess.
Our room was incredible.
We had our own private terrace and pool area.
Inside, we each had our own bed, and there was both an indoor as well as outdoor seating area, all with an incredible ocean view ofcourse.
Inside of the fridge, we had a variety of beverages, including a few bottles of Richard's own Necker Island branded champagne.
I actually still have one bottle of this at home that I took with me from my last Necker visit. I’ve decided I’ll pop when I reach 100k YouTube subscribers.
I’ll have to come up with a new goal for this second bottle, so do let me know if you have any ideas!
The room also had a coffee machine, a record player, and then over in the closet, we had some Virgin air stewardess items - some heels, a Virgin captain’s hat, and a purse.
The bathroom comes with all the things you could possibly need - sunscreen, makeup remover, shampoo, etc.
There was an indoor shower (although I don’t think anyone has used it) since we had a fabulous outdoor shower with a view of flamingos and some environmentally friendly windmills.
It was definitely very different to the room that I stayed in the last time I was here, so if you’re curious about what other rooms on Necker look like, you can catch the room tour here!
Next up, it was time for dinner.
Every night there is a different dinner theme. The theme for tonight was “Future Earth,” aka what the earth will look like in the future.
To be honest, I did not do a good job of preparing for the dinner themes this time. 🙈
leading up to this trip, I had a big business sale, I sold a house (which required a 16-hour road trip), and then went on vacation for a week. So it was back-to-back-to-back craziness.
I also have to say the themes were a bit more complex this time. The last time I was here, the dinner themes were a lot more self-explanatory.
a recap on the day:
Being on Necker again was the most incredible reminder that it IS possible to design exactly the life that you want to live. ✨
Seeing how much fun and joy Richard brings to what he does every single day is an inspiration to say the least.
But that’s not the only take-away I had from my time on Necker. Curious to hear what other lessons I’ve learned from Richard Branson? Watch this video next to find out. 👇
